UNIFORM BADGES
As your young person moves through each section they will earn different awards and badges which will need sewing on to uniform! This page is here to help you to navigate what is what, where it goes and how long for! There are some handy images below to illustrate badge placement for each section. We would strongly advise against using glue to attach them as some, for instance, the staged awards, may need transferring from one uniform to another as they progress. It also makes re-using uniform difficult. From time to time we may offer a badge sewing service for a small fee. If you have any questions about badges please ask one of your section volunteers!

TRANSFERRABLE BADGES
Staged Badges (pale blue with a blue edging) are gained as your Scout goes through all the sections. The award with the highest number should be worn on the uniform. E.G. If a young person has gained a "Nights Away 5" award then gains a "Nights Away 10", it is the latter that should be on the uniform. The other one can be taken off and sewn onto a "Badge Blanket" or similar keep sake. The Moving On Award is given if the young person has completed the transition goals when moving up in to the next section. The Joining In Award badges are given for every year in scouting. A young person can wear the four highest they have been awarded. e.g. If they have been scouting for 6 years they can wear, numbers 3,4,5 and 6 together. Chief Scout Award are also transferable between section, again with the highest being worn. E.G. If the young person has received their Bronze and their Silver Award they should wear their Silver Award. |
The highest Duke of Edinburgh's Award is worn on an Explorer's and Networker's uniform once awarded. An adult Leader may wear the Gold Award if it has been achieved.
The Queen's or King's Scout Award is the highest award in Scouting and can also be worn by Explorers, Networkers & Adults who have achieved it. Wear it proudly! |
