History: The Group has been established for nearly 100 years, the earliest record being of a Troop in 1913. The present Group started in 1958 with a Cub pack led by David Popplewell. The Group has flourished since that time, and hundreds of Mersea Islanders have benefitted from it’s activities since 1913.
Present: Mersea's young people have access to a wide range of activities in an inclusive and dynamic programme of Scouting with: 2 Beaver Colonies, 2 Cub Packs, a Land Scout Troop, a Sea Scout Troop and an Explorer Scout Unit.Taking them through from 5yrs 6month until their 18th birthday when they can then become involved in the District Network section for 18-25 yr olds and perhaps even become Leaders themselves! Most meetings are held at either the Headquarters - The Old Fire Station, Melrose Road or The Scout Hut, The Lane. However dependent on the activity the section may meet elsewhere. For programme information please contact your Section Leader who can sign you up to My.SCOUT
